little light
A lone light in the dark
wandering you are, in this void of night
The coldness surrounding your spark...
...what will you do with this threat to your life?
A period of insecurity
questions among questions
There is a yearning in you,
a desire to fully release and feel your emotions
What say you, little light?
Are you making your own journey?
Or are you simply going thru the motions?
You know you must wait,
there is merit to your patience
for this coming date
for the coming connections
Have you pondered over your own suffering?
Have you been dimmed by the world's cruelty?
Have you seen other lights go out,
one by one...
...in this age of uncertainty?
The dark is lonely, yet you push forth.
You push forth, for that break of dawn
that hope of a new day
The smell of freshly bloomed flowers
The purity of morning dew
The gentleness of the sun's rays
casting down upon you
For growth, for shared food and drink
The passing of smiles,
the dancing by fires,
the wish for true love, for intimate desires
Ah, there you are, little light,
singing even in the dark
How precious! How brave!
How beautiful to see you embark
Embark, little light! Go on your merry way
Oh, little light... do not let these trials and tribulations scare you
The sun shall return and you will feel it's warmth.
A crack in the sky! My, what a sight
The curtain of space pulled back,
another end to the long night
It is time - let go of your worries,
let go of all of your strife
The winds of change are here and loud
Ready or not, little light,
you will feel its intense gusts
Give away your burdens, your shame, your anguish...
...you must!
A heart too heavy, a body in pain
Let only acceptance of the truth of this world
be all that remain
Hear the voices of your fellow lights!
Gather around the shared hearth, the shared fire
Let yourself be reborn into being, little light,
let yourself feel inspired
Dark days will come, but those too shall pass
The sun shall return and you will feel its warmth.
The sun shall return and you will feel its warmth.
The sun has returned... and you will now feel its warmth.
this piece is meant to be recited along the song Hiraeth by the incredibly talented Clemens Ruh. this song is named after the Welsh word hiraeth which describes the feeling of nostalgia, of longing and wistfulness. I wrote this piece inspired by this track, aiming to write about the inevitability of change and the importance of self-acceptance.
