the boys are going, do they know what for?
what awaits them on a foreign shore?
do they pray to their gods,
or wish for new life, new choices, with no strife?
surely there must be some doubt
planted in their heads, this seed must sprout...
the boys are going
their mothers crying
governments, lying
right to them they say:
"you know what you're fighing for!"
smiling, as coffins lower into their graves
framed faces of friends, lives
that could have been saved, "lies!"
"lies is what put them there!"
crowds gather, but no matter how peaceful
the trucks make them scatter
truth buried under snow and ice...
the boys are going, many now gone
is any price paid in blood worth it
to say, "we have won!" ???
