16 november 2025 - sunday
night falls and the dark comes quicker than it did a month ago. i'm tired. i ache. but i yearn to move, i am itching to dance. a limited battery is all i have - i move into the virtual world anyways.eventually i'll get to writing about the crazy weekend that i had at sheltercon, which happened at the start of this month, but i am still recovering from the absolute chaos that whole week was. this past weekend has been a wonderful slower dive, a breather to remind myself of the other parts of the vrchat rave scene that i don't get to see when i'm much more energetic. at first, i was a little bit bitter that i was not really in the shape to be dancing for hours on end, but as the weekend came to a close, i appreciated that i took a softer pace.

taken on the virtual dunes of CONCRETE...
this photo is also on my desktops!
CONCRETE never fails to stun- this event happened in the middle of the day and still so many people showed up to be in the presence of the creature in the dunes. my friends and i opted to hangout in the middle of the desert to commune with the creature, plopping down a fireplace and gazing upon the shifting, luminous mass that moved around us. pahdron and jerk serenaded us with sounds and sights, the creature swirling in tandem with the music.

the vastness of these dunes really get to me when i'm there. the last few times that i've been here, i've opted to stay close to the main area where the dj decks are. this is probably the second or third time that i've been in the middle of the desert instead of overlooking it. several times myself and my friends were entirely enveloped by the creature and its emissions. my friend ember had on an avatar with insanely detailed normals that looked insane with the colored lights panning over them. the crescent moon watched over us.
the music here is always baller sorry i don't make up the fucking rules. the sort of techno that i was hearing felt so fitting to the atmosphere of the world. it made the creature feel grand and mysterious yet also playful at the same time. paired with the visuals, which were both fun and ethereal, made for an experience that i will never tire of. some friends got out their drones and flew them through and around the creature, commenting on - again - the massive scale of everything around us.

a wide shot of THE TOWER's venue with my friend sync's visuals on the ceiling screen and 3ito playing hardgroove on the decks
the homies and i had to pop thru and support syncus as they were vjing for 3ito at THE TOWER. the last time i was here, i promised myself i would make it in the virtual end instead of being on desktop. it was so worth it!!! i really love how the screen curves down towards the dance floor. sync's visuals looked incredibly cool in here and this was a set that i broke a bit of a sweat as 3ito was energizing me - i need me some more hardgroove from everyone! i'm also praying that they recorded because i need to have this in my exercise playlist.

a peek upwards within the cathedral of residence
unfortunately i crashed a mere 30 or so minutes into being at residence, which did frustrate me heavily.
still though, this place is the home of angelic beings. i saw them wander within the mist and the fog and the lights and the shadows - this world feels here but also not, and i love that. the haunting yet ethereal music that is played here resonatese with me deeply. i listened to vbm's set as i was not there for it when it was playing, and felt a bit of fomo from not being able to be there. it is what it is, and i will make sure to catch the next one!! musical journeys here take the listeners beyond...
