RESIDENCE is an event venue in VRChat that happens in different areas within a series of seemingly abandoned and dilapidated buildings. The music that is played here highlights change, with sounds that are ethereal yet haunting, melodic and otherworldly, loud but also quiet. Here, angels are present and all we can do is bear witness, listen, and come home. This place has some of the most calming energy I have ever felt in a virtual environment. From the pews of the cathedral, to the cozy seats on the fifth floor of the residential building, there are times and moments where the music, the lighting, and the space come together to deliver an omnipotent experience.
GARAGE30RADIO: EPISODE 172 - GOJOGARAGE30RADIO is a radio show hosted by blackoutboi that aims to showcase talent from the VRChat rave scene. PHSQ MOTEL 114 - 04112025
PSHQ is one of my absolute favorite groups to be in VRChat, and I always like the chance to spin here as their MOTEL world has really, really immsersive lighting. It's also one of the best places for me to really get into play hardgroove and to even get fast with it. The crowd here really gets into dancing, which I appreciate both as a DJ and an attendee. Expressions of the self in this group are raw, sexy, and empowering - they are all a motivation for me to keep mixing the music that I want to hear.
CLUB ANCIENTS: VENT - 17102025
VENT is a virtual reality venue that is strongly inspired by the real world club also named VENT, located in the heart of Tokyo, Japan. The creator of the world, a friend of mine who I call "chilly", visited Japan and the venue awhile back and was so motivated to make it into a VR venue and run events dedicated to minimalism and techno. The venue has DMX lighting and a raw, stripped down feeling to it that entices the audience to focus on the music and dance the night away. This is one of my favorite venues to be in while in VR.
DEV_HELL_003 - 04102025
DEV_HELL is the project of ACChosen, the creator of VR Stage Lighting, and a lot of their very talented friends and community members. This venue is located in a recreation of a seedy downtown area - urban, dark, and vibrant. Taking stairs down reveals an underground hideout kitted out with drinks, fog, and of course, a rave deep into the depths of concrete, metal, and stone. The music is loud and unforgiving, bodies languidly moving to sounds adjacent to urban music scenes. I have been to the previous two DEV_HELL events, and found myself wanting to shoutout the urban sounds of detroit, the birthplace of techno, in this set.
LUMINALITY x RIZUMU:LIMINAL STATE 0x00 - 03102025
LIMINAL STATE 0x00 was a collab event between the two groups LUMINALITY and RIZUMU. The event was headed by NikkyAI, Captivated, and Aliquem along with various passionate community members between the respective groups. This set was planned to be part of a progressive music experience, where the beginning and end would be for gentler sounds and genres with the sets in the middle being the higher, faster paced variety. Since I went last, I closed out the evening with various soundscapes that I have been collecting and meaning to play.
